Steve Jones

Steve Jones passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 4, 2007 in Palm Springs, CA at the age of 58.He was a long time resident of Palos Verdes, CA and worked as a Stockbroker and Financial Planner in Long Beach, CA.

Steve was raised in Overland Park, KS where he graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School. He later graduated from the Kansas City Art Institute as an artist and draftsman. In 1969 he volunteered and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force where he worked with the Security Police. He was a Vietnam veteran and was honorably discharged in 1973. During his life he enjoyed such hobbies as playing golf, hiking, skiing, and traveling abroad to numerous countries to see the world.

Steve was known as a very loving and caring individual throughout his community. Several years ago he was a volunteer with Big Brothers of America, having helped raise two young boys who then turned into two wonderful adults. More recently, Steve was volunteering at the Veterans Hospital in Los Angeles, CA, spending time just talking and visiting with many of the resident patients.

Steve is survived by his wife Donna Chambers, his mother Cleo Jones Marshall (husband Robert) of Ventura, CA; his younger brother Martin Jones (wife Martha) of Winston -Salem, NC.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, that donations may be made to Big Brothers of America.

Arrangements are under the direction of Green Hills Mortuary and Cemetery, 27501 South Western Ave., Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. 90275. Visitation on Thursday August 9th from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Steve will be laid to rest on Friday, August 10 at the Green Hills Cemetery with an Honor Guard and graveside service at 2:00 p.m.
