Charles B. Erickson, "1776/OzKansas", "Chas", to his loved ones, 56, passed away December 30, 2003, at home from cancer. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 5, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf. Burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society Dept., Pancreatic Research or Crohns & Colitis Foundation of America. Mr. Erickson was born December 9, 1947 in Brainerd, MO. He was employed with the Federal Government. He had several interests including model railroading, sailing, chess and he enjoyed building several sizes of boats. He also enjoyed scuba diving, underwater photography, building computers and being in the Aces High computer group. Mr. Erickson loved playing jazz with the trombone. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest F. Erickson. Survivors include his mother, Martha B. Erickson, Overland Park, KS; one brother, Bradley Erickson, Aurora, CO, sister-in-law, Connie L. Erickson, nieces, Katrina Erickson, Kari Erickson and one nephew, Kellen Erickson. (Arr: D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 913-451-1860)

Chas & I played together quite a bit during & after high school.  Good trombone player and a really nice guy.
