PLAYLIST POLL #4 OF 4 – This is It! The Last One!!
We are now nearing the end of the Welcome Home Reunion’s Playlist preference voting to select the songs the DJ will play as 66ers Celebrate 55! Here are the last 25 songs for you to consider.
We started by selecting 100 songs from 1964 – 1968, the era of our high school years, based on their ranking in the billboard chart of the year each was released. We have completed voting on the first 75 songs. Check the list of winners on our Facebook page or the class’ What’s New website page.
Please select no more than 10 songs from the 25 in this group to vote for your favorites.
We will add those that receive the most votes from Poll #4 to those already selected for the Welcome Home Reunion’s Playlist. It’s unfortunate that only about two-thirds of the songs in the poll will make the cut as we’re leaving some marvelous music behind.
This poll includes another unusual first. One of the top songs from 1966, The Supremes’ “You Keep Me Hanging On” from Motown, was reprised with a psychedelic flavor two years later in 1968 by the Vanilla Fudge. Both are really good but, wow, do they ever sound different from one another. This might be a good time to try out Ron and Cyndi Johnson’s trick of asking Alexa to play them both as a way to make up your mind.
This section also includes the top-rated song from 1965, Woolly Bully by Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs. Check out their picture on the album cover I’ve posted. Wild thing! Speaking of which, the real Wild Thing by The Troggs is in this group too. All in all, this is a pretty eclectic bunch of music. I hope you have fun remembering them and even humming along to your favorites.
To be certain your favorites are among the winners, please go to Poll #8 - Playlist (4 of 4), on the class’ website Home Page at smwest66 dot com
As always, we will post periodic updates on how the voting is proceeding. Get your votes in now.
Thanks again for helping us plan YOUR 66ers Celebrate 55 Welcome Home Reunion!
Let me close by thanking everyone who has participated in our various polls. I hope you’ve had as much fun contributing to them as I’ve had in their creation.
See you in September!
