Gerry was killed in an auto accident in late Sept 1967.  She was riding in the car with Preston Doudna who was critically injured and lost a leg.  Pres passed away much later in his life.

I lived in the same dorm at KU as Gerry and she worked in the cafeteria line. On the morning of the day she died I went through the line while she was there and we chatted a bit. The next day I heard about the horrible accident on K-10 that took her life and left Pres Doudna seriously injured. We were acquaintances, not friends. But it was something I would never forget.

Every time I drive K-10 and pass the place where the accident occurred, I think of them.
