I remember Mike as an excellent trumpet player in the band.

Later in life Mike supervised the fruit cake bakery at the Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana, TX.  After that he became a chef somewhere in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

He was "hot lips" Mike, I'm sure due to his trumpet playing!  We dated for a while, probably 1964-1965.  He took me to my first KC Jazz Concert, at Municipal Hall.  It was an 8-hour event.  I was too shy to let him know I had to go to the bathroom, so I just held it until I got home.  Every time he offered me a coke, I had to refuse.   No more liquids!  I remember him eating chili at the Mulebach Hotel, and his kiss tasted funky.
