Dan Dodson

Daniel Stanley Dodson of Tulsa, Oklahoma was born June 6, 1948 in KC, Mo.  He passed on August 9, 2012.  His service was held on August 14, 2012 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  He loved his family and friends sharing a strong belief in his faith.  He spent his early days of cardiac surgery in both KC and Topeka, KS. He was always a blast to be around, and one of his friends noted that he and Dan always had a good time when they met, usually at a golf tournament.

Professionally, Dan was a clinical perfusionist.  Clinical perfusion is among the most demanding of professions in the health care sector.  They operate the equipment, commonly called a "heart-lung machine," that keeps patients alive during heart surgery by circulating and aerating their blood. Perfusionists might need to administer blood products, drugs or anesthetics during a procedure, and assist the surgeons by monitoring the patient's condition throughout surgery. This degree of responsibility requires significant training.
